Unrealistic Dreams of a Curly Spirit

Walking around in nature with grass crushing beneath her feet. Picking up flowers in the spring, sitting idly while looking at the beautiful colours of the sky. Living in a small cottage within a small community, far from cities, baking pies and painting all day. Growing her own vegetables, fruits, and crops. Dancing her way in and out of her home, packing, and selling her artwork to lovely people. This is the life of a curly spirit living in the dream land of a young woman. That young woman, who is trying, working, and planning every day to make the life of her curly spirit come true.

“This is all rubbish”

“Oh, it’s very unrealistic, it cannot happen in the real life”

“All this can happen only in movies and books”

“Stop daydreaming”

“Gav mein jaake rehna hai kya? (Do you want to go live in a village?)”

“Life is not that happy and simple. It’s hard and if you want to survive in this world, this daydreaming won’t work”

These are the responses that that young woman received from her friends, family, and other people when she shared some of her future plans. Whenever someone asked her, “Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?”, she would give this reply of slow living in the countryside. Every time, everyone mocked her. Earlier, it used to hurt her that no one supported her. She made way for self-doubt, insecurities, and all the negative thoughts in her mind. She thought she could never fulfil her dreams. She was scared that everyone is growing up, but she still has the heart of a child, and that she could never successfully become an adult. She saw everyone around her hustling, struggling, and living a fast-paced life in the metropolitan cities, earning their way to financial independence. But she could never relate to any one of them. Living this kind of lifestyle for more than 21 years has only left her overwhelmed, stressed, lonely, and anxious all the time.

“Are my dreams so unrealistic? Are they so dreamy that it can never be fulfilled”, she thought.

One day, she came across the YouTube channel of Paola Merill, The Cottage Fairy. When she first saw her video, it left her in melancholy tears. She was happy to see that her dreams were not just mere dreams and that they could be realised. If other people on this planet are able to live a similar lifestyle to hers, then why can’t she do it too? Since then, she has stopped others from making her feel scared and immature. She stopped caring what others thought of her dreams. If she believes in her dreams and herself, she can do everything, and no one can stop her.

She started working and planning her way to fulfilling her goals. Her goals, her visions, and her purpose are quite different from the majority of the population. Her friends and her family have always lived in cities, and they only want the comfort of getting everything at their doorsteps. They all have a very different goal than hers, and that’s why no one understood her. Even if some of her friends had a similar dream as hers, they would still deny it as unrealistic because of their fixed mindset. She realised that other people have this fear in their minds that they cannot and should not follow that path. That it is not stable, comfortable, or luxurious. She realised that people do not have the guts to fulfil their fantasy dreams.

If these fantasy worlds can be portrayed in movies and books, why can’t they happen in real life, too? People who had written those books or made those movies had a dream like that, and that’s why they made it, right? If we humans have the power to imagine all of these, why can’t we use that power to fulfil those dreams, too? If we have the capability to do anything, then why do we hide it behind our fears?

This young woman is not old enough; she is not very experienced, but she still has a strong will power; she is courageous; she is brave; and above all of that, she believes in herself. Even if she hasn’t yet fulfilled her dreams, she believes that she will one day, and she also knows that that day is coming soon. She can feel it right in her gut. She believes in her intuition, and whatever happens, she will bring the curly spirit of her dreams to the real world!
