Sunrise – A Poem

Got up at four,
Thinking and more
It’s midnight blue
The weather is cool

Now it is five
And music is life
Prussian it turned
It just got fun

Now blue is light
It turned to white
The sun is rising
The sky is shining

Here I’m lying
The dark is dying
The stars are gone
The moon is gone

Baby peach
Wanna go to beach
This is art
And it’s my niche

Orange beneath
It’s bright and deep
This is music
And it has a beat

It’s pinkish yellow
Hear the sparrow
Pigeons and crows
Wake up my fellows

It’s six thirty
The world is getting ready
Finally, it’s blue
From white to sky blue

Kept my cell aside
Wanna go bike ride
Going for shower
Enriching my power

This is the beauty
Of the sun and the sky
Spreading colours of hope and life
To every soul, this is Sunrise

~ Sunrise – A poem by Kritika Jain

Have you ever looked up at the sky and noticed all the colours that fill it slowly as the sun rises? Have you ever listened carefully to all the birds that start chirping early in the morning, even before the sun rises? If yes, how long has it been since you woke up early and just enjoyed the present moment of sunrise?

We have all been so busy and caught up in work and life that we have forgotten the beauty of enjoying the little things, observing our surroundings, and being present in the moment.

In this fast-paced world, I suddenly woke up one morning at 4:00 and couldn’t go back to sleep. I opened my windows and saw only the darkness of the midnight blue ahead. The half moon was bright, and the stars were flickering and twinkling. I sat up on my bed and just watched the sky above. Meanwhile, my thoughts started to flow. Thoughts about myself, my career, family, and friends. Thoughts about life. And rather than trying to stop my thoughts, I let them flow. I didn’t just let them flow; I started analysing them. And it felt good to do that. To think about how you think.

It’s 4:30. I picked up my phone and started listening to some slow music. Happy and soothing music. This is all you need while watching such a beautiful sky. The light, cool breeze flowing in the summer just makes this moment perfect for anyone to calm down.

The clock showed 5:00 a.m., and now the sky was turning light. It’s summer time, and the sun rises early, so one can see the sunrise starting as early as five in the morning. Slowly and gradually, it turned from midnight blue to Prussian blue. And now the fun began. The blue was a much lighter shade by 5:30 a.m., and I could see a hint of white, too. The stars could not be seen twinkling anymore, the brightness of the moon was fading, and the morning was waking up.

Like a bullock cart, slow and steady, the sky was turning baby peach—the most beautiful colour in the sky, according to me. The sky was looking like a huge canvas being painted in different colours with time. The gradation turned orange, and this is the time when I could see the sun rising. It was a mesmerising moment. Prussian blue at the top, then light blue and white below it, then baby peach, and finally orange beneath. As it is summer time, the sky was clear of any clouds, and one can see the smooth texture of the colours. At this time, the birds started to rise and chirp.

The sounds of sparrows and koyals were soothing. Even the sounds of pigeons and crows, which usually seem to annoy us, sounded cheerful and calming. And slowly, when it turned 6:30, the world started to wake up. The sounds of pressure cookers, bicycle horns, and vehicles can then be heard. The sky was turning yellow from beneath and blue from above. The sun had finally woken up, and then it was time for me to wake up, too. I got up for a nice shower and was as fresh as a newly bloomed flower.

Sunrise always brings me energy and positivity. It reminds me that even if you fall down, you’ll rise up again. It reminds me that not everyone will appreciate you, but you still have to keep going and bring positivity to others. Waking up early and watching the sunrise will always be my thing, even if I don’t like to wake up early, because it is that beautiful. Sunrise.
